If you click on the up "arrow" next to the mic, it gives some options for connecting to speakers--it may make sure you are connected to your computer speakers or headphones...depending on what you're using.
Anna Swank
11:18
Do we need to leave and re-enter in order to see the mic? (LCSD#1)

If you put the Zoom screen on small and put Canvas behind it, it works well. You can easily go back and forth.
sdulkoski
24:18
Can you have a single event apply to multiple classes?
Mike McManamen
26:04
Yes
Stacee Orcutt
28:40
What is the length limit for the recording that can be attached?
Katrina Callister
28:50
Can you attach things from Google Drive?
Mike McManamen
30:02
Katrina, You can attach things from google drive in Canvas. You can also integrate google and Office 365 right into your assignments. Pretty cool
Shelly Courtney
35:35
When you are composing a new message in the inbox, how do you add your students so that they can show up in the address list?
dsorg
36:11
Can you attach a link to an outside platform? I use theraplatform for live sessions with students. Can a link be included to those meetings within canvas?
Katrina Callister
37:25
Why are my students not popping up in the inbox? When I go to the class they are there.
Mike McManamen
37:42
You can attach outside links in Canvas
Christopher West
38:35
I am also missing students in the inbox, but not in the course. (ACSD#1)
Eric Christenot
39:15
We were told in UCSD#1 that the students have been uploaded to Canvas? I see that John Springer is on, what is the problem?
Scotty Heckert
39:49
Let me check with our Canvas rep Eric
Mike McManamen
40:06
Chris, Elementary students are not all in Canvas at this point. We can talk to Sean about that
Eric Christenot
40:15
That is what we were told and we will check in with district personnel about MS and HS.
Christopher West
40:25
Sounds good. Thanks.
ccole
40:31
Love the phone app...
trjacobsen
41:56
Can more than one teacher share and contribute to a course?
John Springer
42:35
Eric,
Scotty Heckert
42:49
Eric, from Jason, they are imported from PS
Andrea Wilkison
43:20
trjacobsen, yes!
trjacobsen
43:49
thank you!
John Springer
43:50
Eric, My understanding is that canvas is purchased by the district at a reduced cost per state contract. Somewhere it was decided that elementary did not need it. I suspect it was the additional costs.
Mike McManamen
44:08
In ACSD1 I create courses we call "Sandbox" that our PLC teams create all content and then move it into their individual courses very quickly
ccole
44:54
My classes are populated with the wrong class names. How can I edit these class names?
TonyW
46:10
CCSD1 purchased for 6th-12th grade. It was a discounted price setup by WDE. We reached out this week and Canvas said we could use it at no additional cost for K-5th grade students. Thanks Canvas and WDE!
Mike McManamen
46:21
If your admin has set it so you can change class names you can do this under settings of your course
Kathy
46:39
I am a Para and I don't have a lot of these tabs on the side.
Mike McManamen
47:36
Kathy, As a para the teacher can add you to courses as a full contributor or an observer
Kathy
47:59
ok thank you
kidapollos59
50:21
If we have a chance, please address linking to Newsela.
Lesieli
54:44
Are students able to record a video directly on Canvas to respond?
toni.moore
55:57
That's a great questions! I'd like to know that as well.
Mike McManamen
56:14
Students can submit videos or audios in assignments. It works great!
Kimberly
57:05
I have all of my students in the Canvas course, but how do I add parents? I teach 3rd grade so parents are the main contact to get started.
Jessica Arnold
57:24
Will announcements post to their calendar?
Mike McManamen
58:45
Students have to generate a code that can add their parents. You can generate all student codes at once and send them to parents. With HS students you want them to generate their own
Shawna Hibbler
59:01
how am I to tag onto someone's (teacher's) canvas page?
Shaunel Conder
59:03
Is there a way to edit your announcements?
Mike McManamen
59:57
Yes you can edit announcements. Click on it and the edit button is top right
bob.skarohlid
01:00:10
Can you "share" your announcements?
bob.skarohlid
01:03:07
Thanks!
toni.moore
01:09:52
how did you link the announcements in page again? Sorry I missed that part?
Jessica Arnold
01:10:53
How does Canvas show that students have in fact watched to video?
Mike McManamen
01:11:47
Hey Toni The webinar is being recorded and David will send out the link to everyone so you can rewind and see it again :)
toni.moore
01:12:51
Great thanks!
Mike McManamen
01:12:59
Jessica You can set up your modules to tell you if a student has watched the video (It won't track if they watched the whole thing) but you can look and see how long each student is spending in Canvas
robertmonger
01:13:51
Can you embed a power point presentation from One Drive?
toni.moore
01:14:55
How do you set up modules to see how long students spend on canvas?
Mike McManamen
01:15:12
Rob, you can embed power point presentations in an assignment and you can assign a any office 365 or google assignment that automatically creates a copy for each student that they have to submit back to you.
Mike McManamen
01:17:23
Toni within each module you can choose the 3 dots on the right and choose edit. You then set up many features for each assignment in the module. I set up mine so students can't see the next modules until they finish the current module Here is how https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-13134-415261967
Sammi
01:22:00
Can I share my screen with my students rather than video of me talking?
Mike McManamen
01:24:17
Sammi We are showing teachers how to record screencasts using Zoom and then linking the video back to Canvas. This allows more features for teachers to record themselves and using all tools on their computers
Sammi
01:25:22
Thanks Mike!
Mike McManamen
01:26:17
Sammi There are many other tools as well. Screencastify is a free google add on that works pretty good and is free!
ami cass
01:27:51
Great for Theater class as well!
Lesieli
01:32:39
Printing might be hard since not all kids have a printer at home
Mike McManamen
01:33:34
ACSD1: Here is a link that shows you how to use Zoom to record yourself and share your screen. Very quick and easy! https://acsdone.sharepoint.com/portals/hub/_layouts/15/PointPublishing.aspx?app=video&p=p&chid=d68683ad-36f7-40a6-a626-cd2de6ff1408&vid=0ce9036b-3c39-41b7-8c2e-7c9cf32e07d5
Mike McManamen
01:34:09
Everyone else that is interested I also created this in my google account and made it public. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1l4N7iwM-4NueE7J21t4_T4MrvjABRFyD/view?usp=sharing
Jessica Arnold
01:38:52
In discussion, do all students see the reply?
Jessica Arnold
01:40:11
Yikes, it sounds like they can!
Mike McManamen
01:40:42
Jessica All students will see replies.
Lesieli
01:40:56
Are you able to allow content to be viewed by some students only... and not the entire class?
Mike McManamen
01:44:02
Yes You could assign something to an individual student that others couldn't see
robertmonger
01:45:15
Can students print Word or PDF documents that are uploaded to modules? If so, how?
Greg Schabron
01:45:33
Mike-how can we import a unit from the MAS sandbox?
Mike McManamen
01:47:02
Greg - You can't share a whole Module from the Sandbox. You can share any page, quiz, assignment. If you want to share larger content you must share in the commons
Edna Hansen
01:47:35
I have created modules, with assignments with 0 points. When I look at student progress, it shows that they're all completed. I know this is not true. What elements do I need so that student progress shows who has actually gotten in and looked at modules.
Greg Schabron
01:48:39
Gotcha...but then how do we take each assignment from Sandbox to MAS?
Katrina Callister
01:51:01
Can you duplicate a class? So that you can use it next quarter?
Rod
01:51:59
How do you hide/unhide what list of content the students can see along the left of the screen?
Lesieli
01:52:46
The audio and visual tools are awesome for students with Learning Disabilities. Are there other tools that students with special needs could benefit from?
Jessica Arnold
01:53:08
How long to modules created stay in Canvas so that what we create can be used again?
kidapollos59
01:53:50
So linking to a Newsela article should be just like David did with Wikipedia.
Mike McManamen
01:53:59
Rod When you are in your course choose settings - Navigation tab at top. You can move things into what students see and out of what students can see
Rod
01:54:24
Thank you
Katrina Callister
01:56:32
Do you have to sizable everything class by class or does it do it for all classes?
Katrina Callister
01:57:32
disable
Edna Hansen
01:57:49
Katrina, you have to do it in every course.
Katrina Callister
01:58:06
thanks
Mike McManamen
02:00:12

02:01:43
How will you send out the recorded version?
Shaunel Conder
02:01:46
You might have answered this question in the beginning but how do we invite students to the canvas page?
Eric Christenot
02:01:56
Do we lose the ability to see this chat once we leave this meeting? Thanks for all the training!
toni.moore
02:01:57
Thanks this will help get me started!
dorlypiske
02:02:03

martha.barker
02:13:24

Edna Hansen
02:13:32
Thank you so much!
martha.barker
