If you change your categories in powerschool will it update on Canvas?
Ok thank you :)
So, if it doesn't have the arrow next to the paper, it won't/isn't linked to Powerschool?
How will this work when we transition from quarter 1 to quarter 2?
Do the Group names have to match those in Powerschool?
Jami it sounds like they just transfer from powerschool to canvas so they will match
Do we have to build the assignment in Power School first?
Here’s an example of the assignment groups.
I’m not seeing a place where we can connect a benchmark from our curriculum maps like we can in PowerSchool. Are we going to have to go in and then edit the assignment in PS to do this?
Our curriculum maps are district created standards.
Ok, thank you!
Does the assignment have to be published to sync to powerschool?
Kind of off topic - but is there a way to sync files in our google drive to Canvas so we don’t have to re-create files we’ve used for google classroom?
Amanda, you can do that by clicking on the google drive button on the sidebar
Yes, from what I know you import google drive fairly easily
So I assume I can add a powerpoint the same way?
I can’t bring it from microsoft file off my computer?
The office suite, I think
Just the regular ones, not onedrive
We can use OneDrive… its just not common practice in our district.
Ok, not many are familiar with it.
Do parents have access to the Canvas Gradebook like they do with powerschool?
Will status transfer to powerschool? Other than dropped?
When I was doing an assign on the tutorial, it had a place to deduct point for being late. It changed the grade, so I would assume that would transfer?
If you have a 0 because someone didn’t turn it in, will it automatically show up as 50% if you have that in settings?
Can you fill grades in the assignments?
knowing those things helps, thank you!
When you grade in the app, can you mark up a video?
How can you go back to see something you’ve already graded and maybe change something?
Can we upload a pdf file and have students write on that and submit it to us on an iPad?
Would Doc Hub work for that?
Does it have to be an iPad?
It’s an extension from Google that allows you to revise and edit PDFs
And connects directly to your Google Drive
had it in google — dochub, but district didn’t subscribe so teachers were limited to 2000 docs
You can restrict file types to upload right? I’ve found it’s way easier to grade jpeg and pdf than heic files so I want to restrict to those.
I use the google add on of Kami for PDF’s to complete
I’m thinking of grading chemistry/math problems from a submitted picture of their work.
Kristin, do you use the free version of Kami and it works for you?
I do use the free version. My students do well with it
Traci, I have also had my students take pictures of their work and upload that too. It works well too.
I taught them to use a scanner on their phone for the pics
We are going to have students upload pictures too. We are just concerned about students ending up working from home and they don’t have their math notebook with them.
Sysser, you could create a digital online notebook
Suppose I gave a chemistry assignment, with the students doing calculations on a Google doc. If I had an answer key on a different Google doc, and I wanted to post that answer key after the assignment’s due date, what’s the best way to post the key?
Thank you for attending!
Thank you, David
Thank you Dave...! much appreciated
