Jacob Adams
13:54
Hello everyone!
Ashleigh Dudley
13:59
I am here too!
Amy Villa
21:16
Can we turn off the details on how a student scores?
Amy Villa
22:22
Relative to peers
Sandi Johnson
22:54
Settings more options
Sandi Johnson
23:12
More options under course details
Amy Villa
23:43
yes
Denise Carlson
23:58
You said if we turn on the new gradebook we can't revert back. Is that for each indiv teacher or the entire school? You mentioned a couple teachers could pilot it.
Holly Myhre
25:19
Has there been an update to the settings where the percentage grade may be tuned off so as only to show the point value?
Audra Agnelly
25:55
What do you mean by "some" mobile apps?
Denise Carlson
26:59
Thanks
AnnMarie
27:20
Is the Canvas Instructor guide updated with the new Gradebook features?
Sandi Johnson
28:45
The Parent app is the one giving us problems. Other is fine for us
Ashleigh Dudley
29:24
Note that guides will refer to the New Gradebook as such. The Gradebook guides are referring to Gradebook classic.
Marcelino Plascencia
32:07
Will rearranging columns reflect on the exported grade file?
Pam Schachern
32:18
How can we turn on the New Gradebook?
Ashleigh Dudley
32:19
No, they will not.
Holly Myhre
32:36
Can you drop down the all modules to reflect one module at a time?
Amy Villa
32:52
Are only published items listed in the grade book?
Pam Schachern
33:13
Never mind. I found it!! :-)
Ashleigh Dudley
33:22
You cannot view only one module at a time, it will show them in order that they appear on the module page.
Ben Reilly
33:50
Is there a hard date that everyone will have to use the new grade book?
Ashleigh Dudley
33:53
And you can choose to view Unpublished assignments in the gradebook under the filtering options. They do not appear by default.
Cara Gurysh
34:03
If we are currently using grade passback to our SIS, can the grade passback option be utilized in the new gradebook while testing? (Our SIS is PowerSchool)
Marcelino Plascencia
34:19
What pattern/sequence do the assignments show up in the exported grade file?
Ashleigh Dudley
34:20
There is not a hard date yet. We expect it to become the default gradebook this summer, sometime in time for Fall Star 2019
Ashleigh Dudley
34:26
Fall Start*
Ashleigh Dudley
34:47
Looking at that one!
Audra Agnelly
35:09
Our experience has been that Unpublished assignments do show up by default.
Ashleigh Dudley
35:35
Exports are sorted first by assignment group as they appear on the Assignments Index page, then by assignment placement within an assignment group.
Melissa buonato
35:53
Does turning the new gradebook on change courses that are concluded.
Denise Carlson
36:04
WE also use grade passback and our system is SIS/Aspire. Will it work with the new gradebook?
Amy Uelmen
36:05
Are those notes for a student or for an assignment?
Sean Atchison
36:22
do parents see the missing and late flag vs a blank box or -
Ashleigh Dudley
36:55
Yes, everything in the New Gradebook will still work with Grade passback
Audra Agnelly
37:52
Parents do see the flags
Ashleigh Dudley
38:04
Yes! Thank you, Audra! They do indeed.
Amy Uelmen
38:54
So, parents see late if the assignment date has passed and the teacher chose “no submission”? So, the assignment in this case may not be late, but it will show as late. Correct?
Janetta Garton
39:55
Choose a student from the drop down menu
Ashleigh Dudley
41:01
Amy, I am looking into that one!
Cara Gurysh
41:05
If someone has info on grade passback from the new gradebook I would be appreciative the link. I don't see a sync grades button as I am used to in the old gradebook.
John@ni Reiels
42:37
Teachers used to be able to see a student’s individual submission from inside the grade book and then score right from the grade book (without opening SpeedGrader). This was handy for scoring individual submissions of various assignments. They now click a link in the grade book which forces them to to to SpeedGrader to assign the score, which takes them out of the grade book. This is time consuming if they have individual submissions to grade for a variety of assignments. Is there a way for teachers to still view and score individual assignments within the grade book?
Audra Agnelly
43:48
Is there a plan to add the Speedgrader link to the 3 dot menu? It's a feature in the old gradebook.
Ashleigh Dudley
45:27
Speedgrader is attached to a specific assignment, so it can only be accessed from the assignment or the gradebook.
Stephanie Dunbar
48:48
its in feature options, admin has to enable I think
Heidi Shetka
48:48
Is there any way to set a one time late penalty instead of a per day penalty? Or would I do that by limiting the percent deduction? Or a two level late penalty for one week late vs three weeks late?
Holly Myhre
54:41
I meant the total cummulative grade not showing a percent. Thanks.
Sandi Johnson
56:02
Holly, its under course details, in settings…uncheck enable course grading scheme about half way down the page
Audra Agnelly
58:23
Is the student context card a setting? When I click a student's name, the grade summary page launches
Sandi Johnson
58:25
Its about half way down the page in course details
AnnMarie
59:01
When I click on student name in the gradebook it does not give me the "context card" (not sure if that's what you just called it).
Holly Myhre
59:09
The letter or the %?
Holly Myhre
59:22
Thanks. Bummer.
Holly Myhre
59:43
This is problematic for CBE.
Melissa buonato
01:01:01
That is a feature option
Jacob Adams
01:01:59
Thank you, Melissa!
AnnMarie
01:02:00
Ok. Thanks.
Amy Uelmen
01:03:24
When entering grades individually, can you tab to easily enter the next student’s score?
Amy Uelmen
01:03:33
Or arrow down?
Jacob Adams
01:03:56
You cannot tab or arrow, but pressing “enter” should take you to the cell below.
Jacob Adams
01:04:09
Excuse me, I spoke too soon! Arrow-ing does work as well.
Amy Uelmen
01:04:10
Thanks, Jacob.
Amy Uelmen
01:04:16
Great news!
Melissa buonato
01:05:00
My teachers love filtering by the section and using the check for a complete/incompete assignment
Ben Reilly
01:05:27
When a new year starts and teachers want to import from previous courses, will the new grade book cause any issues?
Sean Atchison
01:06:19
any plans to include a missing shortcut on the grade book, a la ex for excused?
Audra Agnelly
01:06:56
Ben, there was a conversation in the community about issues that arose with assignments that had last year's due dates getting marked missing as soon as the course began. Hope there's a solution
Amy Uelmen
01:07:04
Ex works in the current Gradebook. Is it not recognized in the new gradebook?
Ben Reilly
01:07:07
Awesome, thank you!
Stacy Petry
01:07:10
Is there any plan to "hide a column" similar to Sheets and Excel?
Amy Uelmen
01:08:27
Ex works in the current Gradebook. Is it not recognized in the new Gradebook?
Jacob Adams
01:08:51
Ex should work in the New Gradebook. Sean, I am still looking for that feature idea!
Cara Gurysh
01:08:53
Audra, I always encourage teachers to select "remove dates" when importing from one year to another. This may help with the problem you have heard about.
Ben Reilly
01:09:47
Thanks Audra…we also ask teachers to remove dates
Audra Agnelly
01:09:58
Thanks Cara, we can encourage, but they don't always follow/read instructions. Especially with all that goes on at the start of the year
Amy Uelmen
01:10:15
Ex should work in the New Gradebook. Sean, I am still looking for that feature idea!
Cara Gurysh
01:10:16
Audra...I get it! :)
Jacob Adams
01:10:24
A feature idea did exist to add a “Missing” tag, but it appears to have been completed due to the existing “EX” feature. I may recommend adding your comments to this idea and we’ll keep an ear to the ground in the event that idea is put on the roadmap!
